Question 14

14. What are your long-term goals for Joe?

A. Patient will be able to safely ambulate independently without assistive device. (carley)
Can you expand this more? Under what conditions? How far? What do you mean by safely? (without falling, without running into objects, being able to handle obstacles on the floor)
B. Patient will be able to return to work as a bus driver with no limitations within 2-3 months. (Missy)
C. Patient will independently ambulate 100 ft across hardwood floor without the use of any gait aid in 4-5 weeks. (Marley)
Why do you have this goal? What is the function?
D. Within 2 months Pt. will be able to independently ascend and descend 30 steps in 4 mins using only a handrail for asst. in order to be able to effectively scale stairs at work and home. (Jordan)
E. Within 6-8 weeks pt will be able to be able to function independently at work and at home. Pt will be cleared to return to work. (AMANDA)
F. I feel that we will need to wait to see what an MRI finds out about Joe before determining his LTG. If he does indeed have MS his long term goals are going to be vary different than if he does not have MS. (Colby)
G. Patient will be able to ascend 4-5 steep steps independtly with the use of a handrail within 1-2 months in order to safely ascend bus steps and return to work. (Erin)
H. Can we presume to help a pt return to his job and do all these things before getting an accurate diagnosis? In this instance, would we write specific long term goals if we weren't sure what's going on? I was leaning towards Colby's idea, even though I know we need to make goals that line up with the ICF evaluation. My goal would be the same as Missy's above: (John)
I. Pt will be able to return to work as bus driver with no limitations. (John)
J. I also agree will Colby about further testing. Going with our presumptions of being able to make a full recovery:
Pt will have no vibrating sensations without stimulation to aid in returning to work as a bus driver with no sensation limitations. (Denise)
